"Mom, I want to go to Disneyland."
"It's ok, we have Disneyland at home. They're called the Wisconsin Dells."
I'm sure quite a few Milwaukee and and Green Bay families have had that exact conversation, and if you were a kid in the 1970s, that wasn't a bad thing.
The Dells have turned themselves into one of the waterpark capitals of the world, and in the 1970s, they were the place to be if you wanted cheesy off-brand Disney aesthetic at a midwest discount.
Originally formed by glaciers and Tommy Bartlett - the town had natural beauty & knock-off Marvel water ski shows and the rest is history.
